Yesterday, Highland Park residents gathered, along with many other communities across the country, for the Great American Cleanup. We picked up litter and collected refuse from around the neighborhood for several hours before enjoying a picnic in Tatum Park (thanks to City Councilman Peter Murphy for donating some of the food!). The weather was beautiful and we accomplished a lot, filling the city’s dumpster to overflowing!

Hello to all! Spring has sprung (most days) and it’s the time of year we all want to get outdoors and enjoy our beautiful neighborhood and city. It’s also the time to spruce up! And that’s one thing we do best.
For our clean up date this month, we are participating in the Great American Cleanup celebration. It’s the largest national program of it’s kind and we are proud to add our neighborhood to the effort. Sponsored by the City of Chattanooga Scenic Cities Beautiful Commission, we will be provided with a dumpster, bags & gloves to give our neighborhood a good shinning up. We’ll load up the dumpster and the city will pick it up.
So mark your calendars for Saturday April 25th! We’ll meet at Tatum Park at 10am and disperse teams to all parts of our neighborhood to get that sparkle that we love to see. Then we’ll gather back at the park for a picnic to congratulate ourselves on a job well done.
If any of you have school or church groups that would be willing to help out, please let me know. We can use as many good hands and backs as we can get. I need to make sure the city provides us with enough bags and gloves.
As always, thanks for all your enthusiasm and effort. Contact me with any questions or suggestions.
