VW Trees Planted in Highland Park

On Saturday morning, residents of Highland Park were up early to plant some trees donated to the city by the Volkswagen Company. Volkswagen is partnering with the city and state to plant saplings for every tree displaced by the construction of the Volkswagen plant. Highland Park was the recipient of thirty trees this weekend — which, as you’ll see in the photos, are awfully big for “saplings!” The event was coordinated by resident Avery Ashby, City of Chattanooga Urban Forester Gene Hyde, and Take Root.

The trees look great! Amazing what some green can do for a neighborhood! Thanks so much to everyone who helped on Saturday! Can’t wait to plant more on Hawthorne..and other areas too!
