Highland Park Neighborhood Association

The Highland Park Neighborhood Association will host a free National Night Out cookout and celebration on Tuesday, August 4th from 6:30-8:30pm in Tatum Park.

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event organized to celebrate neighborhoods’ efforts to fight crime and thank our local police department for their hard work.

Highland Park has participated in NNO for almost 20 years. It is one of our largest neighborhood events and brings together our community like no other HP neighborhood event. Elected officials are invited to attend, as are HP residents, police officers, and others. We anticipate about 300 attendees. Please join us for food, prizes and fun!!

FOOD!
We’ll have BBQ, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, chips, Little Debbie Snack Cakes, lemonade and tea! All food has been donated by very generous local organizations/eateries/residents.

PRIZES!
Over 30 raffle prizes will be awarded including gift certificates for Aunt Sue’s Pet Bakery, Ruby Falls, Children’s Discovery Museum, Bi-Lo, Wally’s, Humphries Flowers, Gordon’s Cleaners, Geno’s Hair Salon, Deli Man Cake Lady, TN Aquarium, Chattanooga Ducks, Chattanooga Zoo, Joy’s Flowers…and MANY MANY MORE! The grand prize (last raffle drawing of the night!) is a luncheon cruise on the Southern Belle!

FUN!
We’ll also have children’s activities, give out the Extra Mile Award to one of our police officers, and you can count on lots of mixing and mingling with neighbors new and old!

NNO is a nationwide event designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Last year’s NNO campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in NNO 2008. Highland Park is proud to be participating in NNO again in 2009!
